About Me

Hi, I'm Austin, the creator of Urban Green Guide, a vibrant online community dedicated to helping urban gardeners of all levels thrive in small spaces. With over seven years of professional experience in horticulture, I’m passionate about making gardening accessible and enjoyable for everyone, especially those living in urban environments.  My love for gardening started on the farm where I grew up, where I spent countless hours helping my mom tend to our vegetable patches. The smell of early morning flowers and the excitement of watching tiny fruits sprout from blossoms ignited a lifelong fascination with plants. This passion led me to study Botany, where I delved deep into the science of plant life and adaptation.

After earning my degree, I joined a renowned horticulture company, gaining extensive experience in growing both ornamental plants and vegetables. I quickly rose to a managerial position, training gardeners from beginners to experts and overseeing the cultivation of numerous gardens, from cozy backyard plots to expansive estate landscapes.

In 2024, I decided to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for gardening with a wider audience, launching Urban Green Guide to inspire and educate urban gardeners. My blog focuses on container gardening, rooftop and green-roofs gardening, vertical gardening, indoor gardening, and hydroponics. Whether you're a city dweller with a tiny balcony or someone looking to maximize their urban space, my goal is to provide you with practical tips and detailed guides to create your own green oasis.

Gardening in an urban setting comes with its unique challenges, but it also offers incredible opportunities for creativity and innovation. I’m here to guide you through every step, from selecting the right plants to mastering advanced techniques like hydroponics.

When I’m not in the garden, you’ll find me experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, preserving the bounty of my harvest, or exploring nature with friends and family. My journey has taken me from a farm to an urban garden, and I’m excited to help you create your own green sanctuary, no matter where you live.

I invite you to explore my blog, soak up the tips and tricks, and start your own gardening journey. Let's cultivate beauty and nurture growth, one plant at a time. If you have any questions or just want to share your gardening success, please don't hesitate to reach out. I’d love to hear from you!

Happy gardening!
